As you can see, the Haiti Learning Community has initially been started in English but we are wondering, is this the best option to communicate among us? The Haiti Learning Community is an effort for collaboration, cross-support, knowledge and expertise exchange among MIF partners in Haiti. The Community currently has 19 institutional members and 50 individual participants. It is an open forum for debate, to simplify work procedures with the MIF but also to convey in their own words the work that they are developing in Haiti, the potential synergies and explore new areas of interest. One of the key questions for the debate when thinking about our Learning Community is what is the language that should be used? Not all of us speak Creole or French or English! Hence, even if the Learning Community is currently in English, we would like everyone's advice on the best way to go forward. Should we accept a mix of the three while keeping the English labels? Should we go for a French and English version? What do you all think?

Everyone should be free to comment in the comment in the language (or languages) they feel more confortable with. We are in Haiti and people speak mostly creole or french. However, for some of us (because of our education, readings, experience...)it might be easier to comment in english. I believe most people will understand all 3 languages (creole, french or english) even if they might not be able to express their ideas in this language.

J’espère que vous avez bien reçu le mail de Joana suivi du premier News Letter de Kombite Fomin. Comme vous l’avez constate, le site est totalement en anglais et ne vous laisser surtout pas intimider. Si vous préférez intervenir en français et même en créole, sentez-vous libre de le faire et si encore vous préférez que le site soit totalement en français faites-nous le savoir et le débat sera ouvert car Durant la rencontre à MSM personne n’avait statué sur ce point particulier.
N’oublier surtout pas que le site est construit pour nous et chacun d’entre nous a une opinion la dessus. Alors haussez la voix car votre silence ne nous sera pas vraiment utile, nous devons faire de cette communauté un espace de ressources et d’échange d’idées. Alors j’attends l’input de chacun. Vous pouvez le faire directement sur le forum et si vous le préférez envoyer moi un email et je ferai savoir votre opinion en toute discrétion.
Allez hop- la et au travail.
Rappelez-vous que j’ai reçu une camera pour filmer un peu de tout. Si vous avez quelque chose d’intéressant a montrer faite moi signe et on s’arrangera pour partager avec le groupe.
